Green Chimneys Center for LGBT Homeless Youth
Maggie has been working for Green Chimneys, a residence for LGBT Homeless Youth and Youth in Foster Care for many years.
This summer, she is putting together a devised theatre piece created in collaboration with Green Chimneys NYC Division, center for LGBT homeless youth. Not Just Another Coming Out Story will be developed by the young people to be presented as a staged reading in August 2013 by the authors and professional Broadway actors. All profits from the reading will go directly to Green Chimneys in order to allow them to continue their support of LGBT homeless youth.
Using theatre-based activities, Maggie works with the youth to build community, enhance life skills, improve communication and have some much needed fun.
Other projects have included:
- A Life Skills video on roomate relationships.
- Float and costume preperations for the 2012 Pride Parade.
- A staged benefit of the play, Queering History, written and performed by the youth and various Broadway actors.
